WHAT IS THIS?

This is a file depository for Quake 1 maps and mods and other related fies.

With the demise of the shub-hub, I decided to put up a replacement for it on my own dime.  The Quake community needs a place to store files with some decent permanence or the community will suffer.



WHICH FILES ARE ACCEPTABLE?

Anything really, as long as it's Quake 1 related. Upload your maps, mods, or whatever to the appropriate directory and then share that link with others.

You can even upload screen shots to the "screen_shots" folder if you have a work in progress that you want to show off to others.



WHICH EXTENSIONS ARE ALLOWED?

For images: .jpg, .png, .gif
For archives: .zip, .7z, .rar, .tar.gz, .dz
For videos: .avi, .mpg, .mp4
For sounds: .ogg, .mp3
For textures: .wad

In general, whatever you upload, please ZIP your file or compress it in some way. Don't abuse my bandwidth, please.

Also, PLEASE include a text file explaining what your upload is.  So if you upload "mymod.zip", please also include a "mymod.txt" file so people know what they're downloading.  This will encourage random browsing of Quaketastic itself in the future rather than having it act as a simple file depot, and you will get more downloads of your work.  Nobody wants to blindly download files just to see what they are.

This can be skipped for things like screen shots but for maps or mods, I'd like it to become the standard.



HOW DO I UPLOAD?

If you want to upload files, you'll need to log in.  For that, you'll need the password.  The password is pretty well known within the Quake community (it's the same as the old shub-hub) but if you can't find it and nobody will help you, send me an email : willem at quaketastic.com, and I'll send it to you.
