YPOD Mapping
There are a few guidelines to making maps for YPOD:
1) NO CONVERTERS!! They just plain SUCK. They stick out like a sore thumb.
2) You send us the .map file also, so we can make any changes to the entities, or map in general if we find problems (maybe after say, we change some source and an entity name gets changed)
3) You meet our deadlines! We have LOTS of them. We need things done, and done on time. YPOD needs to get finished!
4) You do good work, and if we say there is something wrong and we want you to fix it, you do it without complaining. Divide and I (CurMo) decide what stays and what goes.
5) If your map isn't used in YPOD then... sorry. (read the above)
6) Update me constantly on your progress.. I want to keep track of how everything is going so I can try to get deadlines for everything set.
7) Use our texture wad and entities of course
8) The map must fit the theme, or it must be an accurate clone of the level that you approved with me. (remember to email me first so I can tell you if we will use that map or not.. so you don't waste your time)
9) Do professional work! This TC may be free, but we are releasing nothing less than commercial quality!
Ok.. here's a few thing you may need to know before you start into making some YPOD maps...

Doomguy vs. Quakeguy
====================
(Here's a few basics)
1) The Quakeguy is taller than the Doomguy (therefore make the
ceilings a bit higher if you are cloning an existing DooM map)
2) The Doomguy steps higher than the Quakeguy. (therefore make the steps lower if you are cloning an existing DooM map)

Speed
===============
DooM was able to handle large rooms. Quake wasn't. If you are
making maps (even cloning DooM maps) try to make the ceiling of
outdoor's type rooms a bit lower. It will help the speed a lot!
(don't make them too low though.. just as much as possible) Try
to keep the r_speeds under 460..Over it is ok.. occassionally.

I will put up a list of the entities used in YPOD soon. For now
just make the basic level.

Textures

The Texture Wad (will be updated the 5th ((late night))that I posted should have most of the DooM textures in
it. If you can't find some (it may be mising some DooM1 textures,
though all of DooM2's ARE IN THERE) please email me and I'll get something ready for your use.
That's about it for now! I hope to start seeing some kick-ass maps for YPOD soon. Oh, and if you map is used in YPOD you will be contacted to be part of the final YPOD closed beta DM test :) I hope that's some insentive.. hehehe. Please don't send me crappy maps! Only professional quality, that pays great attention to details, speed, playabiltiy, and fun level will be used. MAKE THE DAMN THINGS FUN TO PLAY! Make lots of things to kill! That is what we all love!!
