FEBRUARY FRIDAY THE 21st '98.

THE QUAKE PREFAB PARK HAS BEEN SUSPENDED IN TIME - NO MORE UPDATES WILL BE MADE FOR SOME TIME (IF EVER AGAIN) - BUT DONT WORRY, ALL PREFABS ARE STILL AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD.
 
WHILE YOUR HERE, YOU MIGHT AS WELL HEAD ON OVER TO QPP2 - THE QUAKE PREFAB PARK 2 - MY NEW SITE FOR QUAKE2 PREFABS - duhhh :).
 
FEBRUARY FRIDAY THE 13th '98.

Been extremely busy lately so I haven't been able to update the site with some of the new prefabs I've received - I'll get around to it asap.
 
Bit of old news, but in case you missed it there's a prefab contest happening over at Eldermage - there's some pretty good prizes going, so get over there !!
 
Some more good news, Azr has gone online with his new prefab site. The qED Prefab Park is, yes you guessed it, a site dedicated to housing prefabs in the qED prefab format - you'll find most, if not all the prefabs from here over at the site for qED users - it's a site which is long overdue as I have received a lot of email from people requesting prefabs in the qED format.
 
Oh, a note to Jonah Bishop - no, I'm not ignoring your email, I just can't seem to reply to your address, I keep getting error messages back to the tune of 'too many hops' - It's driving me crazy, please give me another email address to reply to Jonah !
 
New prefabs coming along as soon as I get some time....
 
FEBRUARY 4th '98.

Ok, got four new prefabs and some updated prefabs today,
Fist up, the ARCHTOPS in the misc items arches section by Wolfen
have been updated with less solids by Azrknight.
Then we've got a cool LADDER by Sagnor which is in the misc items stairs section, then we've got a set of STAIRS by Jonah Bishop in the misc items stairs section and another LIGHT by Shorty in the misc items lights section.
Finally, I've created a SPIKED DOOR TRAP which has been put into a new section called, well, traps ! - the guilotine by Marc Bunin has also been popped into this section.
 
That's about it for now......
 
JANUARY 26th '98.

Received a new prefab just after yesterdays update, it's a simple but very effective light fitting which casts some wicked shadows, submitted by
Jonah Bishop. It's in the misc items lights section.

JANUARY 25th '98.

Three new prefabs added (sorry about the delay) all of them are in the misc items stairs/ramps/bridges/lifts section.
 
Fist up, AzrKnight does it again with a cool flight of stairs branching off it two directions with a room underneath - it's here.
Next is a variation of the hangwalk which has been "modified" by Shorty Price. into a tech style hanging bridge - you'll find it over here.
Finally, a prefab I knocked together - it's over there.
 
In other news, Chunka , who's been a major help to me concerning this site, has completed a deathmatch Quake2 level - I've checked out the beta and it looked like a cool DM map for 3/4 people, I've still got to find the time today to check it out the finished article on my pc at home (got no 3dfx here at work) - anyways, download it (247k) HERE or from cdrom.com HERE or one of it's mirrors closest to you.
Send any feedback to Chunka, he's battled hard with minor bugs etc. to get this level out there.
 
There's been no update for a while due to workload etc. - I've also been messing around with linux and getting Quake and Glquake to finally run on it. I had a problem with the svga libaries on RedHat ver 5.0, so I had to re-install ver 4.0 and then upgrade to version 5.0 without selecting the svga libaries - it's the only way I could get it to work, I'm just getting into linux, so there is probably an easier way to do it :)
I'm also getting to grips with Rhino 3d - which is still in beta phase and is a whole lot more complicated than your average quake editor - give it a try, it's funky and a must for Quake modellers.
 
JANUARY 16th '98.

Another submission from AzrKnight - another good entrance/exit arch, you'll find that in the misc items arches section
I'm slowly starting to get into Quake2 editing - it's proving to be a bit tricky as my editor of choice is Worldcraft and the full support is still not available, so I'm trying a combination of a few editors - I'm impressed with qoole, especially with the 3dfx enhancements, but I find the brush resizing a bit irritating as well as the texture application.
I've tried QERadiant an editor based on QE4 source code publicly released by id Software, but I find this editor really difficult to get to grips with because I'm not used to the interface.
 
I've recieved a few Quake2 prefabs which I will post as soon as I am comfortable with Quake2 editing.
 
JANUARY 10th '98.

More submissions, this time from AzrKnight.
First off is a light group (floor, ceiling & wall) in the misc items lights section, secondly is a medevil window which you'll find in the misc items windows section - makes sense to me.
 
A correction on yesterdays submission, the authour is actually Jeremy "Medicine-Man" Wise as opposed to John P. Wise (That's his dad:)
 
Well, still downloading like a mad-man, getting the worldcraft patch at the moment so I can start editing Q2 and get some kick-ass Q2 prefabs on the site !
 
Oh yeah, pop over to Quest Gate - it must rock because there was news about this site there :)
Also the link to The Quake Workshop has been updated in the links section.
 
JANUARY 9th '98.

Got a cool prefab submission from John P. Wise - it's a rig (truck and trailer) and it's in the misc items decoration section.
 
I've received some other prefabs which I can't really post as they are too basic - a note to anyone wanting to submit prefabs, don't send me stuff which can be created easily and before submitting, take a look at some of the prefabs on the site to see what sort of standard is required - there's some really excellent stuff.
 
After playing Quake2 for hours and hours since monday (catching up) I'm amazed at the quality of the levels - I've never seen anything as good, so I'm pretty sure there's gonna be a whole bunch more prefabs based on Q2 coming in soon - when they start coming in I'll get a new prefab group dedicated to Quake2 which will be a temporary measure while I start converting some of the existing prefabs - basically, over the next few months, I'll be leaving Quake behind and will dedicate this site to Quake2 alone, with the old Quake prefabs available for download in a separate section. In the meantime it's still Quake all the way.
 
JANUARY 7th '98.

Wow - kewwwl vacation in the UK apart from the lack of computer access :(
First thing I did when I got back was whack my 3dfx card in and spun that Quake2 cd.
 
Jeeeez - I've missed out on so much in a month, but it's back to business again and I've got stacks of catching up to do - first up is to download all the Quake2 patches and get some kick-ass 3dfx drivers etc., so I might be a bit slow to update over the next few days.
 
I'm gonna also catch up on quake2 editing so expect some Quake2 prefabs in a while !
I'm considering adding a new section to the site called 'architectural reference' or something - basically I hope to have scanned in photos, diagrams etc. relating to building structures inside and outside - I've got a stack of photos from Warwick Castle, the best medevil castle in england + a lot of info, so that'll probably be up some time in the next month or so - any info or submissions regarding the architectural reference will be most welcome !!
 
I've got a ton of email to sort through, including some prefab submissions, I've tried to reply to as many emails as possible - bear with me on this, I'm a bit rusty at the moment.
A lot of the email I've been receiving deals with requesting prefabs in formats other than the generic .map format. Due to lack of time, I will not be converting prefabs to any other format, I'd rather spend the time creating quality prefabs and keeping my site running smoothly.
Anyone who wants to take on the task of converting the 130+ prefabs on the site to other formats, be my guest !!
